Bachelor of Special Needs Education - Liceo de Cagayan University | Cagayan de Oro

This course aims to acquaint students with the concept of special needs in children, providing them with the skills to recognize these needs and the strategies necessary to support and facilitate the growth and development of these children. The curriculum encompasses an array of topics within special needs education, including attitudes toward children with disabilities and other special needs, categories, causes, and characteristics of children with special needs, and more.

This course researches the definition of language and dives into the in-depth meaning of language development. It examines terminologies in oral language and early literacy, and their relationship to language. The course will then explain the different milestones and factors influencing children’s language development. It enables us to understand that within the first 24hrs of being born, infants already show signs of having learned aspects of the broad rhythmic structure of their mother tongue, most likely from hearing speech in utero during gestation. Additionally, language development can be defined as the process of developing the capacity to speak, which starts with the children hearing and understanding the pitch of the mother’s voice and culminates with the child being able to use words effectively to transmit thoughts and desires.
