This course provides an in-depth understanding of language development in primary school children. It covers key theories, stages, and milestones of language development, as well as factors that influence language development. Strategies for developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in primary school children are discussed, along with ways to support children with language difficulties. The course also addresses teaching English as a second language in primary schools and assessing language development. Emphasis is placed on creating a language-rich environment in the classroom and promoting positive factors while minimizing negative factors that may impact language development. Additionally, strategies for supporting children with limited English proficiency and creating an inclusive learning environment for children from diverse backgrounds are explored. Best practices in language assessment are also highlighted to inform instruction effectively.
